NOHA Training in Humanitarian Action 2025

Short Online Course 27 – 29 May 2025

Since 2012, Vilnius University, as a NOHA member, has traditionally conducted an introductory course on humanitarian action during the spring semester. Transitioning to an online format amidst the pandemic, the Vilnius university, in collaboration with the Lithuanian National Non-Governmental Development Cooperation Organisations’ Platform (Lithuanian NGDO Platform), has annually organized online training sessions.

The course is aimed at civil servants, staff from local, international and civil society organizations, and more generally those who are involved in humanitarian action and feel the need to upgrade their basic knowledge and skills. Through engaging lectures, workshops of the course, participants will gain an understanding of the multidimensional challenges and responsibilities inherent in humanitarian efforts.

The training will start with the essential basics on the humanitarian principles and further on the developed standards of the humanitarian response, the participants also will explore the relevant legal aspects in the changing relevant context with the focus on the hybrid threats, moreover the practitioners will share their experience in ensuring effectiveness of humanitarian aid. Finally, the participants will explore the possibilities of negotiation and mediation in humanitarian response.

Registration deadline: 19 May 2025

Fee: EUR 200 must be paid until 20 May 2025 (payment details will be submitted after the registration). Cancellation fee will be reimbursed for valid reasons.

Lithuanian NGDO Platform will provide limited amount of full participation fee covering scholarships for NGO representatives from Lithuanian and EU13 countries, Eastern Partnership region countries. A fee discount may be applied to the VU community.

Certificates: participants will be awarded with a certificate from NOHA and Vilnius University.
